Portnox names Jonathan Skinner as Chief Marketing Officer

Wed, 15th Apr 2026

Portnox has appointed Jonathan Skinner as chief marketing officer, adding him to the executive leadership team as the access control company expands its marketing operations.

Skinner brings more than 20 years of experience in B2B software and cybersecurity marketing, including senior roles at LogicGate, Sectigo, Dropbox and Symantec. At Portnox, he will oversee global marketing strategy, brand positioning and go-to-market efforts as the company looks to build on enterprise demand.

The appointment comes as security vendors respond to a broader shift in how companies manage access across users, devices and software systems. Businesses are handling a growing mix of identities across networks, applications and infrastructure, including machine and AI-related identities, while moving away from older on-premises tools.

Portnox sells cloud-delivered access control products that combine network access control, zero trust network access, RADIUS and TACACS+ in a single interface. Its platform is intended to help customers adopt certificate-based authentication and reduce risks linked to credential-based attacks.

Chief executive officer Denny LeCompte said the hire is meant to support the next stage of growth.

"Jonathan is a marketing leader who knows how to turn strategy into sustained growth in cybersecurity," said Denny LeCompte, chief executive officer of Portnox.

"He understands what it takes to scale enterprise platforms and align marketing with revenue. As organizations move away from legacy, on-premises access control, Jonathan will play a critical role in positioning Portnox at the center of a more modern approach to access-one that secures every identity, including AI."

Skinner most recently served as chief marketing officer at LogicGate, where he worked on the company's positioning in governance, risk and compliance software. Before that, he was chief marketing officer at Sectigo, where he led a global rebrand focused on digital identity and certificate management.

Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Dropbox and Symantec, giving him experience across both security and broader software markets. That background may prove relevant as Portnox targets larger organizations reassessing how they control access across hybrid and distributed environments.

Growth push

Portnox recently also appointed Kristen Knight to lead its global channel partner program, another sign of investment in sales and partner expansion. The company said the hires come during a period of continued momentum that has included recognition from the SC Awards for three consecutive years and a place on the Inc. 5000 list of fast-growing US companies.

Portnox says it serves enterprises globally and that its platform secures nearly one million devices. Its products are designed to help organizations identify risk, enforce policy, isolate threats and revoke access in real time across distributed systems.

Skinner said his focus will be to sharpen the company's market approach as identity security grows more complex.

"Portnox is uniquely positioned to solve the most pressing challenge in modern security: providing continuous, identity-driven trust across distributed environments without the 'appliance tax' of legacy hardware," said Jonathan Skinner, chief marketing officer of Portnox.

"I am thrilled to join a team that is not only leading the shift to certificate-based, passwordless authentication but is also at the forefront of securing the next generation of AI and machine identities. My focus will be on refining our go-to-market motion and ensuring Portnox is the clear choice for enterprises demanding agility, resilience and a better user experience."
