Globe Telecom has selected Synchronoss to provide a personal cloud service to its customer base, with the roll-out covering more than 54 million subscribers in the Philippines.

The service will allow Globe users to back up, synchronise and manage photos, videos, files and other digital content through a branded cloud offer. It will launch with a 50GB entry-tier option through a 90-day introductory trial, followed by paid plans ranging from 50GB to 2TB.

Paid plans will be sold as standalone add-ons and in bundles for selected customer groups. The service is built on Synchronoss' white-label cloud platform, which enables telecom operators to offer storage and content management under their own brand.

The partnership reflects growing demand among telecom providers for value-added digital services that extend beyond traditional mobile connectivity and data offerings. Cloud storage services have become an increasingly competitive area for operators as consumers continue generating larger volumes of digital content across smartphones, tablets and connected devices.

The rollout also aligns with broader efforts by telecommunications companies to strengthen customer retention and increase engagement through subscription-based digital platforms and bundled services.

The package will also include Synchronoss Genius, a set of AI-based photo tools for filters, upscaling and effects. Another feature, Space Saver, is designed to free up storage on devices while keeping content accessible in the cloud.

The agreement adds a new consumer digital service to Globe's telecom offering as operators look for ways to deepen customer relationships beyond mobile and broadband connectivity. Personal cloud products have become one route to subscription revenue from services that sit alongside core network access.

Globe is one of the largest telecom operators in the Philippines, with mobile, fixed-line and broadband operations. It also has interests in fintech, venture building, shared services and digital marketing.

Synchronoss has worked with service providers on cloud-based consumer products, particularly in content storage and device migration. The Globe deal expands its footprint in Asia, where telecom groups have been widening their consumer service portfolios.

Pat Doran, Chief Executive Officer of Synchronoss, said the partnership strengthens the company's presence in the region.

"This partnership with Globe strengthens our growing presence in Asia and underscores the increasing global demand for operator-led personal cloud solutions," Doran said.

He also highlighted the addition of AI-based image tools.

"The addition of Genius AI gives Globe customers a robust way to secure their digital lives while also creating and enhancing their memories," Doran said.

For Globe, the service targets customers who increasingly use smartphones as their main device for storing and organising personal content. The product is intended to help subscribers manage that content more easily while reducing pressure on handset storage.

"Our customers rely on their mobile devices to manage every part of their daily lives," said Roche Vandenberghe, Chief Marketing Officer of Globe.

"By partnering with Synchronoss, we are giving them a secure, seamless way to store, manage and elevate their personal content," Vandenberghe said.
