Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF now Netflix approved

Today

The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF digital film camera has been added to the Netflix Approved Camera List according to a statement released by Blackmagic Design.

Netflix maintains a strict set of quality standards for cameras used in content production, including regulations regarding dynamic range, resolution, codec, and workflow compatibility. To comply with Netflix's requirements, at least 90% of a program's final runtime must be captured using approved cameras. The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF now joins the list which already features models such as the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 and the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF.

The approval recognises Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF's ability to meet the necessary criteria for resolution, dynamic range, and colour accuracy that Netflix mandates for its original programming.

"Blackmagic URSA Cine is a revolutionary digital film camera that introduces new advanced digital film technology combined with total integration into the post production workflow," a statement from Blackmagic Design read. "That means it's the first digital film camera with fast high capability storage built in, plus high speed networking for on set media sync. Blackmagic URSA Cine also introduces a new large format RGBW 36 x 24mm image sensor with larger photo-sites for incredible dynamic range. You can also swap between PL, LPL, EF and Hasselblad lens mounts. There's even WiFi with SRT streaming for remote client viewing. Plus the industry standard Lemo and Fischer connections make it perfect for high end cinema production."

The addition comes as an advantage for producers relying on Blackmagic Design's technology to meet Netflix's production standards, offering a wider choice of equipment in content creation.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF is available for purchase and is already being shipped.
