Starflyer adopts iLoyal platform to enhance loyalty programme
STARFLYER has upgraded its STAR LINK loyalty platform through an implementation of IBS Software's iLoyal solution.
The Japanese premium airline has transitioned from its previous in-house loyalty management system to a cloud-native platform provided by IBS Software. This change is designed to support STARFLYER's strategy for modernising its customer engagement approach while seeking to enhance the travel experience for its passengers.
Platform upgrade
By adopting the iLoyal solution, STARFLYER gains improved integration with both domestic and international Passenger Service Systems (PSS). This integration is intended to facilitate the airline's growth and enable the loyalty platform to meet the requirements of an expanding customer base.
The airline's STAR LINK platform has also been enhanced with new features available to members via a revamped mobile application and member portal. These include real-time updates on flight status, digital membership cards, and access to exclusive tier-based rewards.
The introduction of a unified, self-service portal allows members to manage their loyalty status and related services more efficiently. This development aligns with STARFLYER's efforts to simplify the passenger journey and increase service personalisation.
Personalisation and insights
One of the key features of the upgraded platform is its customer-centric engine, which allows STARFLYER to analyse customer data and offer personalised communications. The system's flexibility enables the airline to adapt its loyalty offerings dynamically, which STARFLYER states will benefit both passengers and its business partners.
The platform's Partner Integration Hub provides expanded partnership opportunities. Through this hub, STARFLYER has been able to form new collaborations and expand the range of benefits available to loyalty members. This is seen as a move to enrich the member experience and broaden the programme's value proposition.
Hiroshi Goto, Senior Vice President of Innovation Promotion at STARFLYER Inc. comments "Partnering with IBS Software to upgrade our STAR LINK platform is a major step in enhancing the customer experience. This transformation not only strengthens how we engage with members but also sets the foundation for modernising other legacy systems across our business. It's the first move in a broader digital overhaul that will elevate every stage of the passenger journey."
Marcus Puffer, Vice President & Head of Loyalty Solutions at IBS Software, also commented on the partnership and the adaptability of the iLoyal platform.
Marcus Puffer, Vice President & Head of Loyalty Solutions at IBS Software says "This collaboration with STARFLYER highlights iLoyal's adaptability for mid-size carriers as well as larger airlines. We're proud to support STARFLYER's vision for modernisation and delighted to expand our footprint in the Japanese and broader Asia-Pacific market."
Broader transformation
The loyalty platform upgrade is positioned as part of STARFLYER's wider digital transformation initiative. By investing in modernisation, the airline aims to strengthen its competitive standing in the Japanese market and enhance operational efficiency. The deployment of IBS Software's iLoyal solution is described as the initial stage in a multi-phase effort to update legacy systems across STARFLYER's business operations.
The upgrade follows broader trends in the airline industry regarding the adoption of cloud-based tools and digital self-service options for passengers. Cloud-native solutions such as iLoyal are becoming increasingly prevalent as airlines focus on personalisation, real-time information delivery, and the creation of broader earn-and-redeem ecosystems for their loyalty programmes.
Both companies intend to build on this implementation to further enhance the digital offering and extend partnership opportunities within the loyalty ecosystem.
