MHP & Innoactive reveal new XR Streaming technology

Yesterday

Management and IT consultancy MHP, in partnership with Munich-based Innoactive, has announced an advancement in XR Streaming technology, capable of efficiently delivering large 3D model datasets to XR devices.

The development is built on NVIDIA's Omniverse platform, facilitating the creation and simulation of complex 3D models. Central to this advancement is Innoactive's XR Streaming platform, which seamlessly streams substantial datasets to devices such as the Apple Vision Pro. This collaboration between MHP and Innoactive is undertaken as part of an existing agreement with automotive companies Volkswagen and Porsche, presenting potential applications in vehicle development, training, and product presentations.

MHP is currently developing a high-precision, photorealistic virtual model of a Porsche 911, which will be showcased using Apple Vision Pro at the NVIDIA GTC AI conference in San Jose, California. The process involves converting original CAD data, allowing multiple variants and interactive features such as animated door movements and varied car configurations like coupé or cabriolet, increasing user engagement and experience.

In achieving this, the platform faces the challenge of streaming approximately 75 million polygons efficiently to XR devices. Innoactive's solution taps into NVIDIA's spatial streaming capabilities along with the open-source Universal Scene Description framework (OpenUSD) to address this. This enables the precise rendering of complex models, benefiting from NVIDIA RTX technology that ensures high-fidelity calculations, lighting, and shadowing.

Besides the Apple Vision Pro, the streaming platform also supports other standalone XR devices such as the Meta Quest 3, Vive Focus 3, and Pico 3 and 4, negating the need for an additional PC. Innoactive Portal, a cloud-based Content Management System (CMS), facilitates this by allowing direct streaming from various platforms to XR devices, all controlled with a single click for ease of use, meeting high security standards and ensuring consistent user experiences.

Jörg Dietrich, Sales Director at MHP, commented on the significance of these developments within the European market: "With the development of enterprise applications for the Apple Vision Pro, MHP is considered a pioneer in Europe. Innoactive's expertise perfectly complements our own. The possibilities for potential customers are virtually limitless and not confined to particular industries. This provides significant added value."

The XR Streaming technology exhibits a broad range of potential uses, spanning sectors such as automotive, mechanical engineering, and architectural visualization. It holds particular promise in fields like medical technology and education, where immersive learning environments can enhance educational outcomes.

Daniel Seidl, Founder and CEO of Innoactive, highlighted the potential for their corporate clients: "With the introduction of spatial streaming with NVIDIA Omniverse development, our major corporate customers can significantly increase the speed of iteration and the quality of decision-making. Our collaboration with MHP will help us accelerate the deployment and integration into existing data workflows."

Visitors to the NVIDIA GTC conference will have the opportunity to engage with this technology in person and understand its wide-ranging applications at the Innoactive booth in the XR Pavilion.
