LG Electronics has supplied six in-cabin systems for the Genesis GV90, covering display, infotainment, content and connectivity in Genesis's first full-size flagship SUV.

The package includes a variable popup central information display, an infotainment system linked to Hyundai Motor Group's Pleos Connect software, LG's Automotive Content Platform, a rear-seat entertainment system, a console touch screen and a central communication unit.

At the centre of the front cabin is a 24.6-inch central information display that changes position depending on use. In driving mode, the visible screen measures 23.6 inches and combines audio, video and navigation functions with the instrument cluster.

When the vehicle is stationary, the screen rises by 90 millimetres and expands to its full size. LG described it as the first variable popup display system fitted to a Genesis model.

The infotainment system serves as the main control hub for the GV90 cockpit. It brings together the cluster, audio, video and navigation system, and head-up display, while supporting Pleos Connect OS and the Gleo AI voice assistant.

Content services

LG's Automotive Content Platform expands the range of digital services available through the vehicle. Passengers will be able to access streaming and communication services on the infotainment display, including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, TVING, Baby Shark World for Kids, Haystack News and LG Channels.

Additional services set to be added to the platform include Zoom, Rakuten TV and HappyKids, subject to regional rollout. The offering reflects growing demand from carmakers for entertainment and communication features for parked vehicles and passenger-use scenarios.

Rear-seat passengers will also have access to a second-generation connected-car Rear Cockpit system. It uses a 13.2-inch touch-sensitive OLED panel and is integrated with the same content platform used in the front of the vehicle.

An eight-inch console touch screen also provides access to vehicle functions including climate control, doors, seats, lighting, media and massage settings. The screen includes haptic feedback and supports over-the-air updates.

Safety standard

Behind these cabin systems is LG's CCU 2.0 central communication unit, which links key electronic control units and external networks. The unit supports remote-control functions and over-the-air updates.

LG said CCU 2.0 has been certified by TÜV Rheinland for compliance with ASIL-D requirements under the ISO 26262 functional safety standard for road vehicles. ASIL-D is the highest automotive safety integrity level under the framework.

The supply arrangement adds to LG's role in the automotive sector, where it has expanded beyond displays into software, content delivery and vehicle electronics. For carmakers, integrating these systems into a single cabin architecture has become a way to simplify development across cockpit displays, rear-seat functions and connected services.

Genesis, Hyundai Motor Group's luxury brand, is using the GV90 as its first full-size flagship SUV. The model gives LG a high-profile installation for a package spanning front-seat controls, rear-seat entertainment and the communications hardware linking in-vehicle systems.

"By combining our capabilities in display, infotainment, content platform and vehicle control technologies, we are helping provide more seamless and intuitive experiences for drivers and passengers," said Eun Seok-hyun, President of the LG Vehicle Solution Company.
