LG Electronics has announced a partnership with Kia to showcase AI-powered mobility space solutions at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show, aiming to merge AI-driven smart home solutions with Kia's Platform Beyond Vehicle technology.
The collaboration will present the Spielraum concept car at the event, held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Korea. This project is a product of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies, focusing on creating a unique mobility space experience by integrating LG's smart life solutions with Kia's PBV technology.
By working together, LG and Kia intend to enhance the experience of Kia PBVs, turning regular mobility into a fluid and convenient extension of one's lifestyle. Integrated LG appliances such as a refrigerator, air conditioner, and Styler are featured, enabling users to repurpose their vehicle into a mobile office or studio.
The Spielraum Studio and Spielraum Glow cabin concepts are presented as part of this collaboration, demonstrating how vehicle spaces can be personalised to align with different lifestyle needs. Spielraum Studio caters to frequent travellers and entrepreneurs, providing workspace and storage with its modular LG Styler, smart mirror, and coffee machine within the interior of Kia's PV5, the first dedicated PBV. The inclusion of AI-powered personalised assistance further boosts convenience by offering clothing care settings that align with the user's schedule.
Addressing a different lifestyle angle, the Spielraum Glow cabin is aimed at the popular car picnic and camping trend. It features an LG refrigerator, Lightwave oven, and wine cellar to enhance the outdoor experience. The integrated appliances also have MoodUPTM panels, enabling users to customise their space with colour options that reflect their personal tastes.
The LG ThinQ ONTM, an AI-powered home hub, is central to the Spielraum concept, delivering highly personalised user experiences. Using generative AI, the hub facilitates interactive engagement, optimal appliance control in the vehicle, and efficient schedule organisation. It offers valuable information like weather and traffic updates and can link to external services such as food delivery, laundry, and restaurant reservations.
LG has introduced the LG Mobility Experience (MX) platform, building on the vision of Affectionate Intelligence, at CES 2025. This initiative extends AI's role from merely residential applications to commercial and everyday environments like mobility, offering spaces designed for work, relaxation, and entertainment. The seamless integration of mobility and AI in home solutions is adjusting the way individuals interact with their environments, providing multifunctional and adaptive living spaces.
Lyu Jae-cheol, President of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "We are excited and proud to bring our advanced AI space solutions to the PBV mobility market through this collaboration with Kia. This collaboration provides an important opportunity to expand LG Electronics' 'AI Space Solution,' serving as a stepping stone to create new AI-powered lifestyle experiences beyond the home, across mobility and other everyday spaces."
