Ant Group's AQ app hits 150 million users in China

Ant Group's AI health app AQ has reached 150 million users and now handles nearly 20 million health inquiries a day.
That total is up 50% in eight months from the 100 million users AQ reported in February, according to Zhang Junjie, Vice President and Head of the Health Business at Ant Group.
Launched in June 2025 as Ant Group's main health app, AQ is focused on everyday healthcare and habit formation. The service offers doctor recommendations, hospital appointment booking and online consultations, and Ant Group is expanding it into broader health and wellness management.
That expansion covers five areas: weight, exercise, nutrition, sleep and mental wellbeing. AQ is also adding a dedicated health section to its homepage to make those services easier to access.
The app provides personalised health advice based on more than 10 health indicators. Through the health section, users can connect smartwatches, fitness bands and other devices, and track their daily diet in the app.
AQ then provides information on indicators including weight and sleep, along with health assessments, analysis and recommendations. It also uses previous user interactions to send reminders and follow-ups, such as prompts about protein intake or changes in sleep duration.
Newer tools in AQ include an AI food scan for calorie management, AI vitality management and an AI weight management coach. The additions reflect Ant Group's effort to move the app beyond medical service access into daily health monitoring and behaviour change.
The expansion comes as health becomes a more prominent concern for consumers in China. Ant Group cited Accenture research showing the share of Chinese consumers who viewed health as a priority rose from 78% in 2021 to 87% in 2025, placing it ahead of career and wealth among the areas surveyed.
Health focus
Weight management has become one of AQ's clearest priorities. In June, the app launched a nationwide initiative in China encouraging users to collectively lose 100 million jin, or 50 million kilograms, through what Ant Group described as science-based and sustainable weight control.
The effort is supported by smart devices, personalised AI health coaching and incentive mechanisms. As of September, 2.75 million people had taken part and collectively lost more than 2.5 million kilograms.
Ant Group is also relying on partnerships as it develops the service further. AQ is working with businesses in smart hardware, healthy food, sport and nutrition as it builds out health management tools for different groups of users.
Vice President and Head of the Health Business at Ant Group, Zhang Junjie said many users struggle to turn general health knowledge into sustained action.
"People often know what they should do to manage their health, but find it difficult to put that knowledge into practice," said Junjie.
"Leveraging AI capabilities and a professional partner ecosystem, AQ aims to help people better understand and manage their health with personalized user experience," Zhang said.
Zhang also outlined the company's view of how the service should develop. "Health management requires collaboration across the ecosystem and a long-term commitment," he added. .
He noted: "AQ will continue to work with partners in smart hardware, healthy food, sports and nutrition to develop professional and personalized solutions and offer AI-powered health use cases that best cater to users' needs at different stages of life."
